Obit Market & SafePay Terms
Pilot marketplace terms. Bank-transfer purchases use the instructions shown on the specific order. Automated payment gateways and provider escrow release are not active.
1. Platform roles
Obit Market and the Obit SafePay technology layer are developed and operated by Obit Technologies Limited. Obit Technologies Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited is the community partner for participating Cooperative members and remains responsible for its cooperative governance and programmes.
2. Marketplace role
Obit Market provides technology that enables eligible users to list, discover and transact for legitimate goods and services. Unless expressly stated for a specific transaction, Obit Technologies and the Cooperative are not the seller of member-listed goods or services.
Who may sell and buy
Only active, verified members of Obit Technologies Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited may sell on Obit Market. Buyers do not need to be cooperative members. Buyers may choose to apply for membership separately. Public browsing and email-based shopping accounts are available during this pilot. Buyers can save delivery details and request seller quotes without becoming cooperative members. Quotes are estimates, do not reserve stock and do not constitute a paid purchase. Company bank-transfer checkout is available when Pay Now appears on the order. Do not transfer money to an individual seller.
Unpaid orders and stock reservations
A buyer may accept a seller quote within seven days of the seller response. The platform checks current prices and confirmed stock, then creates one unpaid order per seller quote with a 15-minute stock reservation. Each shopping account may hold up to two active unpaid orders and create up to ten orders per hour. Prices and quoted delivery estimates are saved with the order. Open Pay Now to review the company bank account, exact total and order reference. After transferring, select I Have Paid to notify staff and continue on WhatsApp. Payment remains awaiting confirmation until staff checks the actual bank credit. Clicking the button is not proof of payment. Opening transfer checkout extends the reservation to 45 minutes. An active payment notification extends the hold for review up to 24 hours. If you paid after expiry, contact support and do not pay again. Live courier booking is not provided by this page.
The buyer or seller may cancel an unpaid order with a reason. Cancellation or reservation expiry releases the held stock without a charge or refund. Expired or cancelled orders cannot be reopened. A new quote request is required. Cancelling a quote request is unavailable after an order has been created from it. A stock reservation is not a guarantee of delivery, financing or a completed sale.
Monnify integration
Monnify is the selected checkout provider for the next integration stage. Its connection is being tested in an isolated sandbox. Automated Monnify marketplace collection remains unavailable. This is separate from company bank-transfer payments and staff-managed delivery and refund records. A sandbox receipt does not represent real funds or authorise delivery.
3. Payments and custody
For enabled internal transfer orders, payment is made to OBIT TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED at Moniepoint MFB, account 4006326446. Staff verify credits in that company account and issue an order receipt. This arrangement is a manually operated company bank-transfer checkout. It does not establish a licensed payment gateway, segregated escrow account, deposit protection or automated seller settlement. A screenshot or customer notification alone cannot confirm receipt of funds.
Pickup preferences and test tracking
Home delivery and available pickup points may be selected for seller quotations. A pickup choice does not book delivery or instruct you to travel. Published locations require operations review. If a location is changed or paused before order acceptance or checkout, request a fresh quote. Automatic courier booking remains unavailable. For confirmed company bank-transfer orders, staff can record preparation, dispatch and pickup readiness with a tracking or handover reference. Only the buyer confirms goods received. These are manual operations records. Separate sandbox tracking is labelled as a simulation. Receipt confirmation does not release seller funds or create a refund.
4. Delivery, confirmation and disputes
Buyers may report a problem or request a return or refund from a payment-confirmed order. Staff record review, agreed return arrangements, inspection and a reasoned decision. Approval does not transfer money. A refund is recorded only after staff checks the actual bank debit and agreed recipient. Refund records are capped at the approved and confirmed amount. They do not independently prove credit to the recipient bank. See the returns and refund process for support, review and current policy limitations.
5. Member responsibilities
Users must provide accurate information, transact lawfully, describe listings truthfully, preserve delivery evidence, protect account credentials and cooperate with verification and dispute processes. Prohibited, unlawful, deceptive or restricted listings may be removed.
6. Pilot limitation
The current SafePay build is a controlled pilot. Provider-backed escrow funding, automated release and automated refunds remain disabled. Company bank transfers, manually arranged deliveries and manually verified refunds are recorded separately. Real bank and delivery checks are still needed to validate a complete live purchase. No blanket seller guarantee or independent identity verification is established by cooperative membership alone.
Seller product videos
Only submit videos you own or are authorised to publish. Videos must show the actual listed item and accurately describe its condition, included accessories and operation. Do not include customer information, misleading claims or unrelated advertisements. Staff review videos before publication and may reject or remove them. Approval is a publication review, not a warranty of product performance. Updating a video removes its public playback until it is reviewed again.
7. Technology and intellectual property
The Obit Market and SafePay software, platform architecture and related technology intellectual property are operated as infrastructure of Obit Technologies Limited, subject to third-party rights and signed inter-entity agreements.
8. Data protection
Personal data is handled according to the applicable privacy notice and documented controller/processor arrangements. Technology ownership does not transfer ownership of a person's personal data.
9. Final production terms
The pilot still needs final category-specific returns rules, service areas, delivery commitments, refund times and seller settlement terms. These must be agreed and published for the live operating model. Ask support for the terms applying to your item before payment. Nothing in this process removes applicable consumer rights.
